About me

Hello! Thank you for being here!

I am Johanna Kreikkalainen for my Finnish friends and Ioanna Tzanakaki for my Greek friends.

I was born and raised in Athens, Greece and moved to wonderful Finland 10 years ago.

I studied classical singing and music (piano, cello, choir conducting) at the Athens Conservatory, European School of Music, Odeio Anagennissi, and Odeio Mousiki Orizontes. My teachers in singing and music had been some of the most famous singers and teachers internationally and in Greece: K. Voutsinou (classical singing), K. Konstantaras (choir conducting and classical singing), V. Gavakou (classical singing and performance acting), N. Pavlou (piano), G. Markea (piano), B. Kanas (theory), H. Kouris (harmony, fugue, and counterpoint), A. Kontogeorgiou (choir singing), O. Stratigopoulou (cello).

I have been working for 20+ years as a private singing teacher and voice coach for many years and used to be a professional classical singer and chorist with a singing career in three countries for more than a decade.

Besides voice recovery and voice coaching, my other work domain is in social services (accredited professional by Valvira) mental health counseling and well-being coaching. I have collaborated with various Finnish NGOs and several educational institutes in Finland and Greece for mental health prevention with art-based methods. Very often, I organize workshops about voice deep meditation, singing, breathwork, and singing and voice as art-based methods in social services.

My participation in many events and productions were mostly with Musiikkitalo, Caisa Kultuurikeskus, Sibelius Academy, Vuotalo, The Athens Megaron, Hellenic Festival, Festival of Epidavros, Greek Orthodox Church, Olympic Games concert of Honor and co-operated as a chorist and soloist with famous composers, musicians, directors and orchestras like J.M.Jarre, Theatre Imperial de Compiegne (France), Metropole Orchestra of Holland, Emma Shaplin, E.Lasithiotakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Pierre Jourdan, Solisti Venetti Orchestra, Jordi Mora, St. Xarhakos, N. Koundouros, Claudio Simone, Al. Myrat etc.

Currently, I work as a voice coach, mental health counselor and well-being coach, and social services professional. Additionally, I am an author of log books for music and singing teachers, and journals for women empowerment. I am a global pioneer in using voice in social services (see my book “Art-based methods: Voice Activities in Social Services” which was published in 2020 by Amazon/Kindle).
